This site is organized to be user friendly on various levels. It provides information to the community as well as our friends and family. The site also serves as an office online to facilitate booking requests and efficiently provide information to event producers, promoters, and venues.
The group was formed in early 2020 by Denver artists Ray Cruz and William "Billy" Rendon, Sr. at the request of the La Familia Network Group for the purpose of hosting and backing national artists being scheduled into Denver.
"Its art, ‘Chicano’ is an evolutionary term. One of the main aesthetic characteristics of Chicano is traditional Mexican meets contemporary America... it’s where they meet, influence each other, and create something totally new."   - Cheech Marin -
The group is called XICANX (pronounced Chicano) and the Cruz Rendon Project after the group leaders, Ray Cruz and "Billy" Rendon, who are tasked with further developing and bringing the group to the "Show Band" level and standard.
Thank you for visiting and thank you for your support Denver.
A priority and goal in framing the group are that it represent these areas of music with excellence and also have the group accurately represent the cultural identity and diverse musical traditions of Mexican Americans or Chicanos... La Gente.
XICANX - The Cruz Rendon Project is a band collaborative project led by Denver veteran artists Ray Cruz (percussionist) and William "Billy" Rendon (vocalist and percussionist) in association with Denver's La Familia Entertainment Network.
Additional XICANX members include Manny Garcia (Sax), Kenny Martinez (Sax), Rich Martinez (Trumpet), Holly Fay Holverson (Keyboards), Michael Skink (Drums), Jeff Andrews (Bass), Chris Maestas (Lead Guitar), and special guests Veronica Gallegos (Vocals), and Dan Treanor (Harmonica)
The XICANX music genre focus includes Old School, Oldies, Latin Rock, Top 40, and bilingual dance music. We are a 10 piece show band that can expand up to a 15 piece group to host and back national artists and for festivals, larger venues, and to fill the host band role for the annual RMPA Music Awards and Legends Tribute Show
