L U M I N A R I A S
Bienvenidos, La Familia is pleased to bring the 20th Annual Luminarias to the Denver Community. Luminarias was started by La Familia Denver in 2001 as a Christmas season event that was designed to offer the Denver Hispanic community an opportunity to bring adult family members, friends, and business associates together at one place and one time for a night of celebration, dancing, and fun before the onset of Christmas holiday activities; a time of year when bringing families together for Christmas continues to be more and more challenging. .
In years since, the event has been held on the Saturday following Thanksgiving Day and has incorporated live band music featuring national and local artists and traditional New Mexican style food. Each year the event has been offered as a gated (ticketed) event and has sold out to capacity in venues that ranged from 400 to 800. In 2012, we expanded Luminarias as it became a fundraising resource for the Father's Heart - Nellie's Kids free Christmas dinner, concert, and Christmas toy giveaway. Today the event continues an evolving community tradition.
In 2021, Luminarias will be held on New Year's Eve and early sales have already provided for the expenses for the 2021 Father's Heart - Nellie's Kids community outreach. Nosotras estamos agradecidas ... we are grateful! You are cordially invited to join us to ring in the New Year in thanksgiving for all that the Lord continues to provide. Mil Gracias a Todos!

COVID-19 protocol in effect on December 31st will be observed
Our guests are asked to bring your masks. Masks once seated will be optional.
This year La Familia and the RMPA will honor Ms. Betty "Dolly" Kelly for over two decades of commitment in helping people in the Denver community; especially those that, without her assistance and caring, may not have been able to bury a loved one or financially deal with a critical illness. She will also be recognized for her contributions in reviving New Mexico music in Denver from the mid 1990's.
There will be two RMPA community awards presented at Luminarias this year.
"As each (of you) has received a gift, minister it one to another...
as good stewards of the manifold grace of God" 1 Peter 4:10
As our community vision grew, our awards focus expanded to include community leaders and educators whose work, sacrifices, and contributions have a positive and demonstrable impact in the lives of people in the community. Accordingly, for a quarter century we have continued the work through our event efforts to provide artists with performance and promotional opportunities and through a social justice, faith, and community leadership awards program.

The first RMPA Music Awards were given in 1996 at Denver's Sloans Lake Events Center with our original music focus being in the areas of Jazz, Blues, and Gospel. Accordingly, the first awards were framed by a spiritually based artist call to action as represented in the scripture ...
