Thank you to all of our RMPA veterans and leaders and volunteers. This event is getting a lot of attention and many event and festival producers in Denver and around Colorado, as well as California, Arizona, and New Mexico. It's not as big as many are perceiving. Actually it's small, but still has the same amount of work as major festival with new challenges that come with a neighborhood setting.. Like the Bronco games, this venue has very little parking for an event like this. (Just street parking, bikes, driver drop off's, Lyft, Uber, and some are walking from their homes. I am walking out the front door and crossing the street and I'm there with great national music legends and some of Denver's best artists and music and all of you.
Normally we would see HEATWAVE at a Pepsi Center Old School concert. but in this case, it's on the lawn across the street. This is why all these people are watching. they know it's new, they know it could be great, and they realized that this can be done in any neighborhood anywhere. if you are willing to build it and put in the work. Unfortunately, I only know what I'm doing about half the time, but I'm grateful for the opportunity for the RMPA and it's founders (Myself, John Hernandez, and Terry Minggia to be the first to bring this new entertainment model to the "Northside." (Highlands, Upper Highlands, & Sunnyside.) This event is not about a name of a place; it's about familia, music,  and people of good will.. All are welcome on that basis.
Since it is new and there are some challenges that we will deal with no matter what, it's ok. We will be friendly, kind, professional and respectful in any situation (positive or negative.) what we are looking to do here and the goal we want to reach is to have a good day. not a perfect day; i don't think that is going to happen because it's new and we won't please everyone, but if we take care of our areas, are courteous and helpful while also trying to get some time to enjoy the music, we will have a good day. You are the key to the order and success of the event. Please put the job first on the list. If we do that, when we're done after the cleanup and tear down at the end of the night we will have given Denver and the Northside something new and you'll see others begin to try and do this too in 2018. But we're the first. it's a start-up pioneer effort. you can be proud of it no matter how it turns out because you are part of taking a concept to reality.
We now own the distinction of being the first and will own the report that we produce. let's just stay focused and relaxed, do our jobs and we will have a good day no matter what kind of challenges come. Good or bad, we own it so remember we're looking for a good day not perfection. The job will not be done until we restore the temple to the condition that we found it in. This is extremely important, so please stay and help after the event. We have a great crew and an outside organization is being hired to help us so it shouldn't take long.
Lastly leaders you should try and take care of issue that come up using common sense and a solution seeking thinking.. We expect that. if it's unclear or gets intense call for help.i will be on my cell at 720-300-9054, but only if you can;t handle it. Parking is limited for everyone. Please group or pool so we can volunteers in the parking lot and still have room for handicapped, sponsors, and artists. They are grouping and pooling as well. we wi;l be doing one more meeting via phone conference.com. I will arrange it for Thursday evening. that's Sept. 14th. I will send or post the time, number, and access code to join the call. Please have your questions ready, and if at all possible, have this page open so you can ask your questions and have the map there too.
